Why Yamuna Expressway Matters?

The Yamuna Expressway is a 165.5 km long six-lane access-controlled highway connecting Greater Noida to Agra with provisions of a probable extension of eight lanes. Constructed at an approximate cost of ₹13,000 crores, it has been developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with the Jaypee Group being granted the contract for its construction and was inaugurated on 9 August 2012 (Yamuna Expressway Authority).

The expressway comes under the purview of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), which looks after the industrial, residential, and commercial developments within a notified area of roughly 2,689 sq. km. The corridor has, till date, transformed the journey from Delhi NCR to Agra with respect to time and facilitated tourist activities, industries, and logistics.
